Compassion

Starts With You

Thank you for stopping by!
Allow us to start by introducing ourselves. We are a group of people based in the United States who are looking to make a positive impact on animal welfare in Lebanon. We came together in July of 2020 and founded a charitable organization to support the passionate people on the ground making a difference in the lives of animals in Lebanon. That’s how Friends of Animals Lebanon (USA) was born and, with your support, we hope to keep our mission going and growing.

What’s happening in Lebanon?

We want to get to the point: the situation in Lebanon is dire. People are struggling, and animals are suffering. Help is needed more than ever.

Lyanna, a deaf cat, was found wounded on the street in Beirut in July of 2021.

Lebanon is going through unprecedented turmoil amidst one of the worst economic crises the world has witnessed in over 150 years. The country is struggling with broken public institutions, a collapsed financial system, record high unemployment, skyrocketing inflation and a decimated purchasing power. The challenges of the global COVID pandemic only made things worse and, tragically, the fallout from the August 2020 Beirut port blast lives on. People are struggling with severe shortages in food, fuel, medical and other essential supplies. Animals are suffering too, as a result. Pets have been abandoned on the streets, left to fend for themselves or starve. Adoptions are at an all-time low. Veterinary care has become scarce and prohibitively expensive. Food and medicine are hard to come by, and financial support for animal welfare organizations has dried up.

This is where we come in. With your support, we can and will make a positive difference.
